Product Review - MyProtein L-Carnitine Shot

Hey Guys,

Today I am reviewing the new MyProtein L-Carnitine Shot.

L-Carnitine has been proved to aid in physical and mental performance with many things like pre workout powders and natural Nootropics containing it. Here is what MyProtein had to say about it,

What are L Carnitine Shots?
L Carnitine Shots provide a combination of Acetyl-L-Carnitine and L-Carnitine Tartrate in a 60ml easy-to-consume drink. The Carnitine Shots come in two great tasting flavours and provide over 3g of carnitine per 60ml shot. Each Carnitine Shot also provides 1g of added Beta Alanine and 1.4g of Choline Citrate.
Benefits of L Carnitine Shots
L Carnitine Shots provide over 3g of Carnitine and 1.4g of Choline. The added Choline will contribute to normal lipid metabolism and to the maintenance of normal liver function.
Who are L Carnitine Shots Suitable for?
L Carnitine Shots are recommended for anyone looking to increase their daily intake of Carnitine with the addition of Beta Alanine and Choline, in one great tasting shot. It is advised to consume 1 L Carnitine Shot (60ml) on an empty stomach 45-60 minutes prior to your workout for optimal effects.

This is a pretty cool little product that has a few uses from getting you going on a morning to helping you get in the zone for training. The packaging is some of the best that I have seen on supplements with an almost clinical look to the box and small bottles. The box itself breaks down to be used as a holder for the bottles which is great when you want to keep them in the fridge. The bottles themselves are easy to open with a thumb nail however adding a small tab to the bottles would;d help those of us who have to keep our nails short.
As for the product itself, I used it both first thing on a morning as a pick me up and pre workout to get me more in the zone to train. As the product as Beta Alanine as a main ingredient you feel a prickly sense and heat in the skin about 10-15 mins after taking it. I often took the product just before I walked the dog and found it great to get me alert and ready to go.
I experienced the same effects pre workout although it was no where as near as good as the Pulse: Gel. I would say that if you have adverse effects to Beta Alanine then I would leave the product alone as the tingling and flushing effect can be quite pronounced.
The flavour of the product is quite tangy with a flavour very similar to Biotests Brain Candy. This is not unpleasant although can be a bit weird first thin g and certainly not straight after brushing your teeth!
However if you are looking for a quick pick me up that is easily transportable, then give these a try.
Stay healthy,
Mike
