Product Review - Myprotein Omega 3
Hey Guys,
Today I am talking about MyProteins Omega 3 Fish Oil.
Regular readers of my articles and this blog will know how passionate I am about athletes (especially grapplers and fighters) taking fish oil to improve their performance and recovery. It is one of the very few supplements that will actually give you a noticeable difference in how you feel and perform (especially if your joints ache).
In the past I have reviewed other fish oil which you can find HERE
If you do not know the many benefits of fish oil, then I suggest that you Google it right now!
Fish oil is a great tool to help you recover and take care of your health. Fish oil is a good type of fatty acid that most of us lack in out diets.
Here is what MyProtein have to say about it,

What is Omega 3?
Omega 3 is an essential fatty acid (EFA) that we find in the diet from sources of oily fish such as salmon, mackrel and sardines. Being essential, means that omega-3 is vital for normal bodily function, however can not be synthesised by the body and must be consumed through the diet.
Benefits of omega 3:
The essential fatty acids consumed in the diet are made up of EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) and DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) which are both long chain fatty acids that have been shown to contribute to the normal function of the heart. In the Uk it is recommended we consume at the minimum 1 portion of oily fish a week to recieve adequate sources of omega-3. However, intakes are well below this whereby a supplement such as Myprotein omega-3 can help meet the established omega-3 recommendations and also be highly beneficial to your nutritional status.
Suitable for:
Ideal for any individual who wants to comsume a balanced diet, boost omega 3 intake and gain optimum cardiovascular health and well being.
Sounds good!
So what are the ingredients and Nutritional breakdown?

Free from artificial colours & preservatives, yeast, gluten, starch & lactose. No added salt (sodium chloride) or sugar. GMO free.
Amount per 2 softgel serving:
EPA (18%): 360mg
DHA (12%): 240mg
EPA (18%): 360mg
DHA (12%): 240mg
Ok so this doesn't look to bad at all for a standard fish oil. But are there any alternatives?
Well ASDA have an own brand fish oil that has 260mg of EPA/DHA per capsule. This means that it has 520mg per 2 capsule (as opposed to MyProteins 600mg).
The price of the two fish oils is the same (about £10 for 250 capsules) so you are better off with theMyProtein version as it has an extra 100mg per 2 capsules!
I had no issues at all when taking these. I take quite a high dose (8 caps per day) to help with grip recovery for NJJ and not once had an issue. The capsules are easy to swallow and have no taste. A great buy that really helps mine and my clients recovery!
You can get the Omega 3 from MyProtein for £9.79 for 250 capsules
Stay healthy,
Mike
